For anyone wondering, development has not stopped on TBP. Actually, It sorta has... I had to take a break while I finish up this semester at College. I plan on resuming in a few weeks and I will picking up right where I left off. There are some really cool things in store.

In the meantime, free open registration is still going on. Take advantage, tell a friend, be happy. :)

Fixed a bug in the paging. Users should now be able to page through all the results properly. Yesterday I also did a few changes to the vendor search page. Vendors should now be able to display their listing locally, nationally, or globally.

Regions, counties, what does it matter?

Did some cosmetic work in naming the regions, states, counties, etc their proper name depending on where in the world they are.

I also worked on some form validation stuff as well as other cosmetic changes like disappearing drop downs when no data is present.

New Feature coming soon

Today I made a few bug fixes to the destination weddings search. I was able to fix a bug that changed the users country every time they searched for a destination location. Users can now jump from a destination search and back to a regional search with no problems.

I am also working on a feature that will allow for global searches. This is exactly what is need for websites/ mail order companies that service the entire world.

Attention Destination Weddings Vendors

Over the past day we have ran into a few technical issues with the way some destination wedding listings are being displayed. As a result, some listings might not be displayed properly or at all. We are currently working towards a solution. Thank you for your understanding.

Web development can be a long and winding road

Just a quick update on some of the development on The Vine. I have been working over past week to put together the beginnings of a user stream for registered members. This social stream will be an vital feature in the months to come because it will allow all of the other features to be tied together. It will allow vendors to connect with other vendors and eventually brides which is our long term goal.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Well, I had the option to go to a memorial day party, or stay home and work on the site some more. What did I choose? ...

The new category graphics are now up! I also did a great deal of bug fixing with the registration pages as well as the vendor listing. Vendors with longer ads now stay completely inside of the bounding box. I have also been tracking down a nasty little div tag that has been causing all kinds of display problems in the registration area.

Finally I did some more back and coding to get ready for support for countries outside of the US. The registration form will now allow people from other countries to register on The Bridal Vine.

I'm think I am going to end my coding session early and grab a good ol' fashioned American cheeseburger somewhere.

Registration navigation link fixed

I was able to change the navigation during registration. Users can now go back to change their listing during registration.

New Catagory and stuff

A few changes today. "Invitations" is now "Invitation Services". Also added a new category "Accessories"

Bug Fixes

A few bugs were fixed today. The label "Phone: " does not show up if there is no phone number to display. Also there is no city/state comma displayed where there is no address listed.

Phone bug

Working on some bug fixes in the Phone number function. If a vendor does not have a phone number, the phone number label will be omitted. Support has also been added for out of the country phone number exchanges.

Bug Fixes

I did a rework on the way vendors are searched and displayed. The selected state is now able to be remembered.

Added newvine image links

I bet you were wondering what the little images were at the bottom of the featured story. They are actually image links to previous articles. I was finally afforded the time to get these nifty little image links working. Now they have propose, and having purpose is a good thing.

Bug fixes

Today I did some bug fixes on the ad display during registering new businesses. Ads should now preview correctly when registering a new account.

I also automated the procedure of adding new vendors to the database. This will greatly speed up the time delay from initial registration to listing since it will automatically be added to the database of vendors.

Behind the scenes

I have been doing some behind the scenes coding to get things ready for some automation. Currently there is a lot of data entry being done by hand. We are now adding about 10 vendors to our database per day! I know that's not a whole ton, but doing this all by hand is getting overwhelming. Soon vendors will be registered immediately upon submission. I also did some spring cleaning, spell corrections, fixing minor annoyances and such.

Bug fixes

Did some bug fixing:

*In the vendor search area. States, Regions, and Services should be logically available in the drop down boxes.

*Changed the name of limousines and carriages to transportation services.

*Fixed a few dead image links

*Added destination weddings to resources heading. Currently not functioning correctly.

*Did some work on implementing the lead form. I copied the registration template to the lead registration section. Lead submission should now link to the liknk page.

*Removed "privacy policy" and merged the data into the "Terms of Agreement" section.

Minor changes

Today we started work on our lead program. clicking the register your event link t the the bottom of the Vendor info page no longer takes you to a blank page. We also updated our terms of agreement and connected the link to the terms of agreement at the bottom of the Web site.

Bug fix in Registration

I found a bug in the registration page that was causing selections for the vendors service to lose data after a state was selected. This has been fixed and should now retain information.

Long names getting shortened

Apparently it seems that many vendors names are rather long. The result of displaying long names causes the web and featured links on the right of the listing to be dislocated. This is a bug we are currently working on fixing. A simple solution will be to let the long business name drop under itself and we will be implementing this fix as soon as possible. Until we do, we will be manually shortening some of the longer vendor names. Vendors can also log in at any time if they would like to edit the listing themselves. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Pageing

Today we did some minor work to correct a paging bug. The bug appeared when someone would select a state link from the homepage. The vendors would show up for that state but there would be no pages at the bottom. Everything is fixed now and there should be no more problems with paging through vendors.

No more spam...hopefully

Yesterday we installed a simple human predictor into our message board to try and cut down on some of the spam messages we have been getting. If anyone had trouble logging in or posting please contact us.

Image uploader should be working now

I did some tweaks to the image uploader script and users should now be able to upload images. Users might need to refresh their browser to see the uploaded images.

Also it seems like Maine was missing from our state database. We have since corrected this problem.

Image uploader trouble

Some users have had trouble displaying uploaded images to their account. We are looking into it and should have this issue fixed soon.

Numerous bug fixes

Fixed several bugs including:

• Vendors State changing to Alaska during sessions


• Vendors not able to select stock images


• Privacy policy checkbox now works


• Users now are able to opt out of our newsletter at registration

Vendors will now be able to go to the "Vendors Lounge" right from the homepage without logging every time.

Stock images for everyone

Wether you are a new vendor of an already registered vendor, everyone will have the option to use our stock images for your listing. Our stock image pool is accessable right from the vendor lounge. We also added more stock images today as well.

New Feature - Default Images

We have been hard at work adding more features to our website and one of the many new features is default images. Users can pick these default images from our image banks when registering for a new listing. We plan on migrating this service to our already listed members, but for now it is currently limited to our new registers.

Form Validation

Did some more bug fixes in the registration section. If phone number validation fails the user will now have their information retained. I also implimented a character count for the info box.

Coming soon The Bridal Vine Writer Affiliate Program

We are looking to add extra writers to our staff. The Bridal Vine will soon be introducing our affiliate staff writer program. Articles submitted by vendors will automatically get a byline with a link to their business' listing. It's a great way to gain extra exposure for your business as well as establish yourselves as an expert in your field. Look to the following weeks for more information on how to become an affiliate.

Bug fix in Vendor info

Vendors can now display paragraphs in their vendor info section simply by

breaking the text in the update field.

Service interruptions

We did some back end bug fixing today and during this time some users experienced some log in issues. These issues should be resolved.

Feature stories

Did a little work on the homepage featured article area. Mostly writing the template for where the featured stories engine will be placed. This section will hold featured articles that will populate with new stories as they are published. In the meantime we must put up with the static template.

I also did more bug fixes, mostly back end stuff like password checks and small cosmetic enhancements. The vendor engine is 99% complete and is ready for beta testing.

More bug fixes

Continued to fix bugs in the image upload section as well as the log in page. "My Vine" Currently is changed to "Login" at top corner. Users can now change their password and upload images.

Bug fixes

Did much bug fixing in the image upload section. Users now are able to log in, change passwords, and upload images. Login is located under the myvine link at the top.

Validation

Today we did some work on some validation scripts. The format for phone numbers has been changed from 8005551234 to 800-555-1234. If the format is not correct it will display an error.

Usernames were changed to default at the vendors email instead of the original format (First initial, 5 letters from last name).

BUG: If the user puts a bad format for the phone number or fax while registering they will be routed back to the registration page with unsaved data. The user will have to re enter this information again.

login trouble

Over the weekend we migrated the login page to it's own page and now can be accessed through the "my vine" link at the top of the page. Since this change took place there have been a few users that had trouble logging in. We have located the issue and now everyone should have access to the login page.

Edit images and listing

Today I decided to lock myself in my seat until I managed to finish almost all of the code for the image upload script as well as the listing edit area. Users will soon be able to edit their listing and upload images to their accounts.

The log in for vendors is currently located in the "Register your business" link. This soon be moved to the my vine location.

Continuing work on Vendor Lounge

Continuing work on the Vendor lounge. Users will soon be able view and edit their listing. The logout section is complete. Still some interface tweaks need to be done.

Login and Vendor Lounge coming soon!

Continuing work on the login section. Things are progressing nicely. We are also working on something called a "Vendor Lounge." The "Vendor Lounge" will be a landing page where users will log into. When logged in the user will be able to do a whole host of things including change their listing and upload pictures. There will be a few more integrated features as well later to be announced.

Vendor login coming soon

You may have noticed the little login box in the top corner. This is because we are finalizing our login section and it should be available in a few days. When it is complete vendors will be able to edit and add pictures to their listing.
